Intensive therapy programs are a great way to progress skills over a short amount of time. Intensive programs typically run for 3-5 consecutive days for 1-3 hours a day and are customised to each client. This daily input may be split into smaller sessions, such as 1 hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon. The intensive program will start with an assessment by one of our Occupational Therapists. Strategies will then be used in the intensive sessions depending on the needs of the person and family involved. The most popular goals for intensive programs includes school readiness, writing, sensory processing and muscle strengthening.
Additional costs will be incurred for assessments and report writing.
All therapy staff are trained Occupational Therapists registered with the New Zealand Board of Occupational Therapists.
All of our staff have had both COVID-19 vaccination doses to help protect our tamariki.
At Child's Play O.T., we use various theories to help assess and plan intervention strategies with our clients. Areas of need highlighted in the assessment are targeted through intervention and a program designed specifically for the client is given to be followed at home and/or school. The client is encouraged to make their own goals to work towards in order to make therapy more meaningful and ensure personal achievement is accomplished.
Individual therapy sessions are typically once or twice a week. Specialised equipment available only at our therapy space means we encourage sessions at the clinic as much as possible, but we are able to offer support in the home and school environments. All sessions are 60 minutes duration, except for handwriting only sessions which are 30/45 minutes duration.
You don't have to come to the clinic to benefit from our support!
At Child's Play O.T., our therapists use the latest technology to offer interactive support through video-conferencing tools such as Zoom or Google Meetings. We use various theories to assess and plan intervention strategies with our clients. The client is encouraged to make their own goals to work towards, to make therapy more meaningful and ensure personal achievement is accomplished.
