All therapy staff are trained Occupational Therapists registered with the New Zealand Board of Occupational Therapists.
All of our staff have had both COVID-19 vaccination doses to help protect our tamariki.
We recognise that some children are not able to cope with large commercial holiday programs - too many people, not enough structure, not enough encouragement to try new things. Our holiday programs cater for those children. We have a low staff-child ratio, with no more than 10 children in the program at any one time and at least 3 adults supervising. Our current program is run in Central Auckland. Typically our programs run for 3 consecutive days for 3 hours each day.
An emphasis is placed on taking risks and trying new things while still feeling safe in a supported environment. Many of the children that take part in the program also struggle with social interactions, so we place a big focus on supporting positive and appropriate interactions. As this is a program based on occupational therapy frameworks, we use activities as a way to learn new skills. The program has a semi-structured format to help those children who need routine in their day. The children are encouraged to bring along bikes, scooters, and/or skateboards for outdoor fun. We supply a range of craft and indoor activities for those that need some quiet time.
